How We Grade

When we recycle our golf balls we make sure to clean the every ball so you can get them in the best condition. After cleaning we are able to sort the balls into one of four categories – Mint, Grade A, Grade B, and Hit Away. Below is some of our criteria for sorting.
Watch our parent company – Golf Ball Planet’s video to see the process in action.

Mint or AAAAA
Mint golf balls are the best grade available grade. These balls are like new, they will show no or very little wear and will maintain the original color and sheen. These will include player markings (sharpie or felt pen), team and corporate logos. It is hard to believe they are used!

Grade A or Near Mint or AAAA
Grade A golf balls will have slightly noticeable imperfections, generally how a new ball would look after 1-3 holes of golf and will include scuff marks. There will be slight discoloration and minor cosmetic blemishes, which do not compromise the play of the golf ball. These balls will include player markings (sharpie or felt pen), team and corporate logos.

Grade B or AAA
Grade B golf balls will include moderate surface blemishes, scuffs, and discoloration which will not affect the play of the ball. How a new ball would look after 9 holes of golf. These golf balls will include player markings (sharpie or felt pen), team and corporate logos. Higher grade Practice and X-OUT models may be included.

Hit Away
Hit Away golf balls are extremely cosmetically challenged. These balls will have major surface blemishes, major discoloration, and may even be cut or out-of-round. Will include Practice and X-OUT models. We do not recommend playing a round of golf with these but they are perfect for practice or hitting where you do not need to get them back!
